International Students House operates 68 flats for couples and students with families. These are a combination of studio flats for couples and one and two bedroomed flats for those with children. The flats are located at York Terrace East which overlooks Regent’s Park, across the road from ISH at Colosseum Terrace and south of the river at Blain House in Balham, which is close to Tooting Common. Blain House comprises both one and two bedroomed flats.

Please note that priority is given to full academic year lets.

The nearest Underground stations are Regent’s Park, Baker Street, Great Portland Street and Warren Street for York Terrace East and Colosseum Terrace flats and Balham station for Blain House.

Students may apply for residency in our flats at any time during the year although the period when they become available is usually in September or June. Successful applicants are required to enter into an agreement, normally for a period of at least one academic year, on the production of a letter from the student’s college or university. Extensions can be considered before the lease expires by applying to the Dean of Students, but residence for more than four years cannot be considered. One month’s written notice of termination is required. Unsuccessful applicants join a waiting list for properties which become available from time to time.

Rent and Payment

Please see the “Rates for Flats” section for information on rent and other charges for each site.

Rent is payable in advance by direct debit on the first day of each month. A non-refundable booking fee of £35 is payable at the time a flat is offered. A bond of one month’s rent against damage or loss of equipment is required, payable in full prior to arrival. An inventory of the contents and condition of each flat is taken before occupation and departure. A £50 (returnable) key deposit it charged on arrival.
