Flats FAQs

Beds?

Studio: one double bed.

One-bedroomed flat: one double bed.

Two-bedroomed flat: one double bed and bunk beds.

Broadband/Internet?

YTE and Blain House – supplied by ISH.

Colosseum Terrace and all other flats – arranged by residents.

Can I apply?

ISH flats are let to student couples and students with families while they are studying full time (min 20 hours per week). Single students can apply for a room in our student residence

Central Heating?

ISH flats and studios have central heating. The cost of central heating is included in the rent at YTE but it is an extra cost at the other locations.

Cleaning?

Residents are responsible for cleaning their own studios and flats. Common areas are cleaned by ISH.

Duvets and pillows?

Supplied by ISH. Residents provide their own sheets, pillow- cases, duvet covers and towels.

Electricity?

At YTE electricity is on a key meter. Residents at other sites pay the electricity bill for their studio or flat.

Flat Share?

ISH flats and studios are let to couples and families. You cannot sub-let your ISH flat.

Flats and Studios (definitions)?

Studio: one room with kitchen and shower room.

One bedroomed flat: living room with kitchen, bedroom and bath or shower room.

Two bedroomed flat: living room with kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom.

Furnished flats?

All ISH flats and studios are fully furnished and equipped. Residents provide their own bed linen and towels.

Garden?

There is a communal garden for residents of Blain House.

Gas?

Not available at YTE. Residents at other sites pay the gas bill for their flat.

Immediate Availability?

Please apply online. If we are able to offer you a studio or flat immediately we will contact you.

Long Lets?

After the first year you can extend your lease up to a maximum of four years. You must be a full time student to remain at ISH.

Maintenance?

Problems are reported to ISH using an online General Service Report and resolved by the maintenance department.  See the student portal for details of how to submit a report.

Microwave?

ISH does not provide microwave ovens.

Pets?

Pets are not allowed.

Proof of Study?

We ask for proof of study when you apply. This can be the offer letter from your university or other proof.

Short Lets?

The studios and flats are let on an initial one year contract. There are sometimes short lets available during the summer break. Email l.brown@ish.org.uk with the dates required and we will contact you if a space becomes available between regular tenancies.

Single applicants?

ISH studios and flats are for couples and families only. Single students should apply for a room in the student residence.

Sub Letting?

It is against the terms of your contract to sub-let your ISH flat.

Telephone?

YTE – provided by ISH. Blain House, Colosseum Terrace and all other Flats – arranged by residents.

Towels?

ISH does not provide towels.

TV?

ISH does not provide TVs. Residents must rent or purchase a TV and they must also purchase a licence if they bring a TV into their studio or flat.

Waiting List?

Our waiting list is constantly monitored and is arranged by circumstance and requirements. If we are able to offer you a suitable studio or flat during the time that you are studying in London we will contact you.

We cannot guarantee the offer of a flat. If we are able to offer you a studio or flat during the time that you are studying in London we will contact you.

Washing Machines?

Provided in Blain House family flats. Communal washing facilities (washing machines and dryers) are available at ISH main sites.
