 Changing Rooms

If, during your stay at ISH, you want to change rooms for whatever reason please see the Accommodation Department. You will need to complete a 'room move request form' (found on the right hand side of this page), your name will be added to the waiting list and when your request becomes available you will contact you with a moving date.

Cooking and Appliances

Cooking is not permitted in student rooms. There is a common kitchen in both buildings where students are allowed to cook. There are also microwaves available in the small kitchenettes on the floors. Any heat generating devices or cooking appliances are expressly forbidden in the bedrooms, e.g. microwaves, hobs etc. ISH reserves the right to confiscate such items which will then be returned to the student upon their departure. Hairdryers and kettles are permitted.

Security

Do not give your bedroom key to anyone. If it is lost or stolen, please report it to the Duty Manager. Please be aware of anyone who is behind you as you are entering the residence and report any person acting suspiciously to the Duty Manager or a member of staff.

Please keep your valuables in a safe and secure place in your bedroom as International Students House does not take responsibility for any lost or stolen items. If you find a suspicious object, do not move it or touch it but report it immediately to the Duty Manager or any member of staff.

Smoking

It is illegal to smoke in ANY areas of International Students House. Any resident found smoking will face disciplinary action and could be fined £50. Provision has been made for smoking areas outside of each residence.

Telephones

Payphones are available in both GPS and MTH receptions. If you wish to make outgoing calls from your room please complete the telephone authorisation form and take it to GPS reception.

Residents who have paid a full security deposit will be given a PIN number and charges will be added to their 'extras' account.

Short stay residents who have not paid a security deposit will have to pay a £100 telephone security deposit. Charges will be added to your 'extras account' and anything remaining from the £100 telephone deposit will be refunded upon departure.
