Resident assistants

Resident Assistants are carefully recruited and trained so that they can offer you help, support, advice and lots of opportunities to get involved in events and activities at ISH.

There is one Resident Assistant (RA) for each floor at ISH (four at MTH and four at GPS). They are students who have lived at ISH for at least a year, so they know all about ISH and how it works, as well as understanding what it's like being a student living in London. The RAs are carefully recruited and trained so they can offer you help, support, advice and lots of opportunities to get involved in events and activities at ISH. The most important part of an RAs role is to make sure everyone on their floor gets to know each other and that everyone lives comfortably together.

Your RA will introduce themselves to you early in your stay at ISH. You are also welcome to contact your RA, either in person or by email/phone. Your RA will have one night each week when they will be on duty – this means they will check the building (reporting any problems that they might find) and say hello to everyone. This will be a good opportunity for you to ask them about any events and activities coming up, tell them about any issues you are facing or your ideas for improvements at ISH.

The RAs meet with ISH staff once a fortnight. At these meetings, the RAs raise any issues which are concerning the residents and also take time to discuss new ideas and proposals for upcoming events and activities. After the meetings, the RAs will be able to give you feedback.

Each term your RA will organise a party so that you can all get together and relax! They will also ask you to complete and return a questionnaire about their role at ISH, so you can give feedback and make suggestions.
