The name of the ISH Alumni, Goats International, carries on a wonderful tradition. Mary Trevelyan started a club for international students in October 1956 and was anxious to find a memorable name for it. The name 'Goats' developed after Mary's chance meeting with a group of African students, who mentioned that without her they would be 'lost goats' in London.
Out of this club grew the residence and organisation now called International Students House and the Alumni is comprised of club members and former residents of ISH. Currently there are over 6,500 members spread across the world.
Membership of the alumni association of ISH is open to long term residents and club members of ISH.
Your membership card for Goats International allows you to come and visit ISH, use some of the facilities and attend the events offered to alumni. Please bring your Goats membership card with you when you come to visit ISH. Our staff will ask to see it as part of our security procedure. This is not to cause you offence but to protect you and all our residents.
