How to make the most of summer in London as a student

Summer in London is an exciting time, especially for students. With its vibrant culture, historical landmarks and endless opportunities for fun, there’s no shortage of things to do. Whether studying abroad or spending your break in the city, we’ve created a detailed guide on the different experiences in London – from iconic landmarks to cultural delights and everything in between.

Explore Iconic Landmarks

London is home to some of the world’s most famous landmarks, such as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and the London Eye. You can spend your summer exploring these iconic sites, taking plenty of photos to capture the memories. You could make a scrapbook of all the places you have been to around London which would become a great souvenir.

Exploring iconic landmarks is something everyone has to do when they come to London. There are usually souvenir shops around the area so you can take a piece of London. Immerse yourself in culture

Immerse yourself in London’s rich cultural scene by visiting museums, art galleries, and theatres. Most museums are free to enter so you never have to spend too much to have a great time. Add the British Museum, the National Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum to your itinerary. These indoor activities provide a fascinating journey through art and time.

Enjoy Outdoor Activities

Make the most of the sunny weather by enjoying outdoor activities in London’s parks and green spaces. Pack a picnic and head to Hyde Park, Regents Park, or Hampstead Heath for a relaxing day outdoors. One activity I love to do in London is rent a bike to use for the day. This will help you explore more parts of the city on just two wheels! Outdoor activities are a great way to get fresh air while experiencing fun places in the UK.

When you’re outdoors it’s a great way to do activities that don’t cost much. Picnics and outdoor games are a great way to enjoy the summer weather and have a good time with your friends.

Travel through food

London is a melting pot of cultures reflected in its diverse food scene. Challenge yourself to try different cuisines, whether street food markets such as Borough Market, and Camden Market, trendy cafes, or Michelin-starred restaurants like the Ivy Asia. Don’t forget to sample traditional British dishes like fish and chips or a hearty Sunday roast as these are traditional English cuisines. There are so many places in London that don’t just have good food but are aesthetically pleasing for your Instagram profile!

Attend festivals and events

Summer in London is packed with festivals, concerts, and events happening all over the city. From music festivals like Wireless and British Summer Time in Hyde Park to cultural events like Notting Hill Carnival and Pride Parade. If you don’t know where to start, use this website to find events happening around Great Portland Street. You can find everything from concerts, theatres and festivals all in one place.

London is made up of diverse neighbourhoods, each with its unique character and charm. Take the time to explore areas like Camden, Shoreditch, and Covent Garden, where you’ll find quirky shops, vibrant street art, and bustling markets. Think of visiting London as one big adventure. There will always be something to see and find out more about. I personally love to go to Waterloo and visit their tunnel of street art as you can feel the energy of how creative and vibrant the city of London is.
