Supporting ISH

At ISH, our goal is to continue supporting students in achieving their academic and career aspirations in an environment that actively promotes global friendship, inclusion, and international collaboration. Our house at 229 Great Portland Street is a gathering place for students of all nationalities that visit our building to attend the social and cultural activities. They also make use of the spaces and services we have in the building such as our café/bar The Thirsty Scholar.

We pride ourselves on providing students with a transformational and immersive experience through our scholarships, hardship fund, and comprehensive offering of cultural and support activities. Which would not be possible without the generosity of our donors, partners, and clients.

There are several ways that you can get involved in supporting ISH and help us to continue to transform lives.

What can I support?

Scholarships
The amount and size of our scholarship programme have reduced significantly due to the financial impact of Covid-19. During the 2019/20 academic year, ISH offered over 107 accommodation scholarship places to talented students who would otherwise not have the means to study in London. This has reduced to 44. In order to sustain the programme, we need ongoing support. Donors are able to make a contribution to the overall scholarship fund or could sponsor a full named scholarship/s.

Mary Trevelyan Hardship Fund
We recognise that being a student (especially an international student) can come with a degree of uncertainty and challenges. We aim to support London-based students who have found themselves in unexpected financial difficulties during their studies through The Mary Trevelyan Hardship Fund (MTF).Donors can contribute to the hardship fund which offers grants or loans of up to £1000 to students who encounter an unforeseen financial emergency during their studies.

General ISH Donations
General donations are also welcomed and will be used to support the areas of the charity mission with the greatest need.

How can I support?

Single Gift

You can make a single gift by sending a cheque made payable to International Students House or by BACs transfer. Bank details are available on request at alumni@ish.org.uk

Regular Gift

Regular donations help us plan ahead and maintain the support that we offer to students. To set up a monthly or annual donation please contact the Alumni team. You are completely protected by the direct debit guarantee, and your donation is not a contract. You are in complete control and can stop your direct debit whenever you wish.

Legacy Gift

A legacy gift is a unique and very meaningful type of gift. A legacy gift costs nothing in your lifetime, but from the moment you pledge, you know you are making a profound difference to ISH’s future. There are many ways that a gift in your will can be framed to ensure peace of mind for you and your family. To find out more about remembering ISH in your will, get in touch with our team.

Gift in Kind

There are many opportunities for organizations or individuals to give a gift in kind. Gifts of this type are highly valuable and very gratefully received. To discuss a gift-in-kind opportunity, please contact our alumni team.

To discuss any aspect of support for ISH please contact us at alumni@ish.org.uk. We are always happy to hear from members of our community and discuss the various ways we could potentially work together.

As always, we are so thankful to all of our supporters who enable us to make a profoundly positive impact on the lives of our students.
